FAQ

 Q: What is a personal chef?
A: A personal chef is someone who makes your life simpler.  I come to your home with groceries and tools, cook a menu pre-approved by you, and leave the customized meals in your refrigerator (or freezer) to be heated and savored at your convenience.

Q: Isn't a personal chef just for celebrities and rich people?
A: Many people hire personal chefs: those who simply prefer to let others do the cooking, need some temporary assistance because of a new baby or surgery, or even as a gift for someone!


Q: Why don't I just go out to a restaurant?
A: Because a restaurant can't possibly offer the same level of personalized service that I do.  With Prepared with Care, everything is tailored to your tastes and dietary requirements. In addition, you get an opportunity to talk with the chef at each visit to give feedback or just have friendly conversation.  How often can you do that when dining out?

Q: What services do you offer?
A: I can cook everyday meals for you on a monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly schedule, or whenever you like.   I’m also available to assist with your next in-home party or cooking class. Customization is my specialty!

Q: I am allergic to nuts / can't have gluten / hate cilantro. Can you prepare meals for me?
A: Absolutely!  Before cooking, I do a full assessment of each individual's food preferences and allergies. Meals are customized to every level of need or discriminating taste.

Q: Will you cook in my house?
A: All food preparation is done in your own kitchen. Food is never prepared elsewhere, so you know exactly where your food has been.

Q: Do I have to be home while the chef is cooking?
A: Your don't have to be home during the chef's visit, although most clients enjoy chatting with the chef. Arrangements can easily be made to cook while you're not home, as long as I have access to the kitchen.


Q: What materials do you provide?
A: Everything!  I will bring all necessary groceries to prepare your chosen menu, down to the salt and pepper, as well as all utensils, pots, and pans needed. You don't have to provide a thing, unless you prefer to.

Q: What do I need to provide?
A: All I need from you is a working stove and oven, running hot water, and enough space in the refrigerator or freezer to store the meals you've ordered.

Q: How many meals will the chef make?
A: During a typical 2 hour weekly home visit I will prepare 4 different entrees totaling 10-12 servings of food, depending on your preference.  Number of entrees and frequency of visits can be adjusted according to your tastes and budget.


Q: How do you store the meals I've ordered?
A: Depending on your preference, food will be refrigerated or frozen in single-use containers, or your reusable glass storage containers. Single-use containers are provided for you.

Q: How often will the chef come to my home?
A: Most clients have the personal chef visit their home every week, although some choose to schedule services every 2 weeks or 2x per week. I can work within your budget, appetite, and needs.

Q: What are your credentials?
A: Prepared with Care is fully licensed and insured. I hold a Texas Food Manager Certification and am a member in good standing of the United States Personal Chefs Association.

As a mother of five, I’m also very experienced in cooking “like Mom would!”
